My Story
I’m Jo Wright, an abstract artist based in Oxfordshire, UK.
My work has always been about emotion, movement, and the things we don’t always know how to say out loud. Alongside my abstract paintings, I’ve been doodling quirky characters for as long as I can remember, on notebooks, scraps of paper, margins, and anything else within reach. (Thanks, ADHD.)
Everyday Womtras™ grew out of those doodles, and out of real life.
They’re born from personal experience, inner monologues, awkward moments, quiet resilience, big feelings, and the slightly chaotic thoughts we don’t always feel confident saying out loud. Each Everyday Womtra pairs a hand-drawn character with a short, punchy mantra, something cheeky, irreverent, and just a little bit subversive. The kind of thing that makes you laugh, nod, or think, 'Yep. That’s me.'
Hand-drawn, intentionally imperfect, and full of personality, Everyday Womtras aren’t polished or posed, they’re honest. They celebrate lumps, bumps, flaws, feelings, and the wonderfully messy reality of being human.
What started as sketches alongside my painting practice has grown into a range of prints, mugs, totes, bottles, cards, and more, everyday objects turned into small moments of recognition and confidence.
Because sometimes, the most powerful thing you can carry with you is a reminder that you’re allowed to be exactly who you are.
